Full Day Tour From Basel to Mount Pilatus

The Best Switzerland Vacation Packages

ITINERARY

You will be picked up in Basel and driven to Lake Lucerne and board a boat for a scenic ride to the steepest cog train in the world (with pitches up to 48%). Once on top of Mt Pilatus you will have 360° views of Switzerland with a stunning view of the Alps. While on top you will have the opportunity to explore up top with 2 short walkways or you can stop for a coffee and a bite to eat while taking in the views. We will then descend back down the other side of the mountain via the “Dragon Ride” aerial Cable Car and then a gondola ride into Kriens. A short walk and a short bus ride will return us back to Lucerne where our ride back to Basel awaits.

**NOTE – The cog train is open May – October. If you plan on being here Nov – April we will get up the mountain another way. . . we always have options 🙂 **

Doug’s expertise is as an outdoor adventure guide, not an urban art/architecture/history guide. If you are looking to do things outdoors, not run-of-the-mill, and with variety, Doug’s your guide! He thoughtfully organized a full day visit in the Lucerne region: city, lake, and mountain. The described itinerary was met fully, yet he frequently offered the option to add or delete bits as circumstances allowed. Thus, we felt he was striving to maximize our experience, not just check stops off his list. – Paul G.

Had a wonderful day exploring Lucern and Mt. Pitalus! Doug showed up promptly and catered the tour to our abilities and desires! The views were amazing and the whole day was exactly what we desired and wanted! We could ask for no better way to start our vacation! Thanks Doug!! – Darren V.

Doug was a magician. Our original plans were blown up when it poured. Rather than a boat ride, cable car and tram excursion we spent the day in Doug’s very comfortable and spacious SUV. We spent the time in the ALPS finding enough space between the rain drops to have an enjoyable day and capture waterfalls and snow capped peaks. One of the highlights was a leisurely Sunday lunch with towns’ people at Hotel Stechelberg in the Alps near Interlaken.  Noah (Dr.) C

Doug was very flexible with what we wanted to do. He did a wonderful job of researching the area before the tour. We will definitely ask for Doug again. – Cathy S.
